KIM GUIDONE'S film career began in New York as a story editor for Stanley Jaffe, former COO of Paramount and an Academy Award winning producer, at his company JAFFILMS. Primarily optioning from books, Kim was entrenched in the publishing community to seek out quality material. It was while at JAFFILMS that she was part of the development team for such films as MADELINE, I DREAMED OF AFRICA and FOUR FEATHERS. Kim credits Mr. Jaffe as her mentor in setting the high bar of standards in story development and producing.

Later in New York, Kim worked for a boutique independent production company, SALTMILL where she continued to option and to develop material from books, plays and original work from New York filmmakers and successfully sold several properties to Miramax, Universal, MTV and Showtime. In 2002, Kim moved to Los Angeles and served as a development and production executive for producer Lisa Tornell. While there, Kim worked on BREAKIN ALL THE RULES starring Jamie Foxx and distributed by Screen Gems. She then moved over to network television, VH1, in the movie and series division where she served as a production executive for several shows.

In 2005, Kim landed at East of Doheny, an independently financed film and theatre production company, as VP of Development. Later, in 2007, she was promoted to oversee all aspects of development and production. She reinvigorated the company with numerous book options and brought in experienced writers and directors to adapt the material. She optioned and oversaw such projects as FRANNY K STEIN, MAD SCIENTIST by Jim Benton, AN ABUNDANCE OF KATHERINES by John Green, JULIE AND ROMEO by Jeanne Ray, GEOGRAPHY CLUB by Brett Hartinger, STUFFED: ADVENTURES OF A RESTAURANT FAMILY by Patty Volk, SECRET LETTERS FROM 0 TO 10 by Susie Morgenstern as well as an original story concerning the life of artist MAN RAY. Kim also helped to package FLIPPED written by Wendelin Van Draanen and adapted for the screen by Nora and Delia Ephron, later sold to Castle Rock with Rob Reiner to direct. In addition, she brought in STOMPIN AT THE SAVOY: THE NORMA MILLER STORY by Alan Govenar to be adapted as a staged musical production and TRANSPARENT by Cris Beam to be developed as a rock musical. She also participated in the creative development of musical theatre adaptations of REBECCA OF SUNNYBROOK FARM, PLEASE DON”T EAT THE DAISIES and MY MAN GODFREY in their workshop stages. Kim served as the production executive on GREY GARDENS: FROM EAST HAMPTON TO BROADWAY, the documentary of the making of the musical that was brought to Broadway in 2006. She sold the documentary to PBS and it premiered in December 2009.

Kim is now an independent producer and continues to option and develop unique voices and exceptional stories from all sources to bring to the screen and the stage.
